Biometrics is the science of using digital
technology to identify individuals based on the individual's unique physical
and biological qualities. Simply, biometrics is the technique of verifying a
person's identity from a physical characteristic (i.e., fingerprint, hand
print, face, scent, thermal image, or iris pattern), or personal trait
(voice pattern, handwriting, or acoustic signature).
DCS offers numerous products designed to meet
all your needs whether it is a complete Biometric based Identification
System. Whether your needs are for 1:1 Fingerprint biometrics, 1:1 Facial
Recognition or a full AFIS system, DCS has proven biometric solutions that
allows you to add biometrics to your current application.
Specializing in biometric and card solutions, DCS focuses on enabling
business and governmental organizations to identify personnel and clients
and prides itself on providing integrated business solutions.
Fully integrated solutions take into account the client's existing
infrastructure and ensure that the legacy equipment is utilized to the full,
and works effectively with the new technology. It is vital that open
standards are utilized which focus on reusability and multiple applications.
Biometrics can enhance security documents by enabling the automatic
comparison of human characteristics e.g. finger, iris, hand, face, voice and
signature to provide positive identification of specific individuals.
This automated process is capable of capturing a biometric sample from an
individual, extracting the biometric data from that sample and comparing the
data with that contained in one or more reference templates, determining an
identity match.
Biometric identification is a one-to-many process of comparing an
individual's submitted biometric sample against all of the biometric
templates stored, to determine whether a match exists and subsequently
identify the individual. The biometric process using the one-to-many
approach is seeking to find an identity amongst a database rather than
verify a claimed identity. This is sometimes more difficult because there
are usually a large number of possible candidates. Having the ability to
search a database provides an added level of security to the system by
eliminating multiple registrations or duplicate identities of individuals at
the time of enrolment.
Biometric verification is a one-to-one process of comparing an individual's
submitted biometric sample against a biometric template stored on an ID card
or document, to determine whether the individual is the authorised
cardholder.
